A sharia-compliant business account that helped sole-owner micro businesses keep their business money separate, organised and easy to keep an eye on, without any of the interest-based bits a conventional business account would lean on.
TL;DR
Hijra for Business let sole-owner micro businesses organise and keep track of their business transactions while sticking to sharia principles. I was the only designer on it, and on one other new vertical at Hijra.
Within three months of launch it had passed IDR 150M in balance, and business accounts were holding nearly twice the average balance of personal ones.
The beginning
Most micro businesses in Indonesia are run by one person, so the owner's personal account doubles as the business account. Working out how the business is actually doing means piecing it together by hand. And in a sharia-compliant product, keeping the two apart can't rely on any of the interest-based bits a conventional business account would use.
